The inaugural meeting of The Eagle Pipers’ Society was a tremendous success with a packed Scots Guards Club treated to a great night of piping and very tasty Scotch pies.
It was an honour to welcome Jimmie McGregor and Tom Speirs to the meeting, both of whom were stalwarts of the Society back in the 70‘s, and to see so many other well known faces become members of the new Society.
Honorary Pipe Major Euan Anderson started the proceedings off at 7.30pm and after a few words from Society President Colin MacLellan there were a few tunes from two of the younger members, Edward Seaman and Billy Stewart. We also heard from Roddy Weir, Douglas Gardiner, Donald MacLeod and Dr Bill Fraser, who made the trip down from Aberdeen. As it was a special night there was an opportunity for everyone to play and the massed bands gathered to play a few tunes for the group photo.
2009 Northern Meeting Gold Medallist Glenn Brown rounded off the night playing the evening’s Ceol Mor with the tune Lament for Patrick Og MacCrimmon. Here is Glenn playing a couple of jigs.
Great night! Thank you Euan, Colin, Iain et al. Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you for coming a supporting. Really pleased to see so many people there.
See you soon
