Meeting report 16 March 2010

There was a strong international flavour to the meeting on 16 March.  We had a few tunes from P/M Alan Clark of Ottawa, Canada,  Derek Midgeley of New Jersey, USA, Nils Michaels from Germany and Fiona Manson of New Zealand who provided Lady Margaret MacDonald’s Salute as the evening’s Ceol Mor.  We also had guests from California, Montreal and Andrew Dirk De Blocq, one of our newest members, representing South Africa.

Also called up ‘for shaving’ by Hon. Pipe Major Euan Anderson were young Connor Sinclair, who came down from Crieff with his dad, Nick Keyden, Magnus Orr and Neil from Bagpipes Galore.  Keep an eye on the Eagle Pipers’ Youtube channel for some of the performances.

Finally, we were honoured to welcome Margaret Stoddart back to The Eagle Pipers’ Society.  Margaret, wife of P/M George Stoddart and mother of Major Gavin Stoddart, is a tremendous piping enthusiast and has been associated with the Society since it was first formed, serving for many years on the committee.  We all hope to see you back again soon.

The next meeting is Tuesday 30th March, 7.30pm at The Scots Guards Club.  Hope to see you there.

Iain Speirs
Secretary / Treasurer
